Appointments in State-Integrated Schools

State-integrated schools in New Zealand have the right to reflect, through their teaching and conduct, education with a special character.

These schools differ from state and designated character schools because they are established through a different process, a private proprietor will own the land and the buildings of the school and integrated schools usually charge compulsory “attendance dues.”

The special character of these schools, as enabled by Schedule 6 of the Education and Training Act 2020open_in_new and their individual integration agreement, means that the schools need to include additional wording in their advertisements and employment documentation when recruiting.

Please note the term “tagged positions” is being phased out. “Special character positions” is the term now used.
