Refreshed Governance Framework 2025
For more than 20 years, our governance policy framework has supported boards to lead and govern their schools and kura effectively.
As the education sector continues to evolve, we have reviewed and refreshed our framework so it remains practical, relevant, and responsive to the needs of boards.
What is the refreshed framework?
It is a system of interlinked policies, processes, and tools that guide everything your board does.
Our refreshed framework is designed to strengthen your board’s focus on governance.
It builds on what we know as the leaders in school governance and puts all that collective knowledge and experience into a model that works for New Zealand school boards.
This isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach.
It's an opportunity to discover what works for your school, students, and community.
This model will change how you govern your school, enabling you to focus on strategic leadership rather than day-to-day management.
It brings relationships to the fore, supporting you to engage with your community and listen to their aspirations and goals for tamariki.
